The Beautiful Things We’ve Done with Typeform
1. Using Logic for Smart Recommendations
Perhaps one of the most underrated uses of Typeform is filtering out prospects and clients in an automated way using something called Smart Logic.
This example is for a therapist who is licensed in California. Since her business was mostly online, she didn’t want to exclude non-Californians, so while unable to provide therapy in the traditional sense, she could (and does) provide coaching for these clients instead.
We wanted a quick way to filter these prospects out and give the appropriate disclaimer as needed.
So in using a series of relevant questions one might ask in a Discovery Call, we were able to quickly assess the right resource for the prospect:
Outside referral (not a good fit)
Membership, or
1:1 Call
The recommendation is proposed to automatically. But how did we do this? We worked with the client to develop the right series of questions and set the form up in such a way where based on the answers, a particular suggestion was made, saving the therapist an unnecessary Discovery call and giving the prospect an action step to move forward.
2. Filtering Highest Revenue Inbound Leads with a Lead Generation Form
One of the best things I’ve done as a solopreneur was create a lead generation form that allowed me to filter leads based on things like highest revenue/budget, fastest timeline, and industry. I would use Typeform to gather all the critical information so that come time for our consultation call, we could really focus on the specific needs of the client and refine the scope. This is why nearly all of my consultation calls on no longer than 20 minutes—they simply don’t need to be.
Additionally, I’d setup alerts for ideal clients: mid-high budget in the industry vertical I like with a fast timeline. I’d prioritize these clients as they were well suited for my services.
What this lead generation form also gave me was insight into the needs of the marketplace. If there was a particular request I was getting more than others, I’d consider if there was a way to productize it. That’s actually how I ended up with this productized service: The Website Clean-up
3. Beautiful Data Visualization for Nonprofits
Nonprofits depend on reporting, and yet so many of them don’t realize how automated (and beautiful) the process can be with the right tools.
This is one of my favorite use cases of Typeform as it drastically reduces the manual labor often required to showcase the numbers in a way the board of directors, funders, or doners can understand.
No excel sheets, filtering on/off certain questions for privacy, and live reporting are incredible features. Plus if you do have someone on your team that wants the excel or CSV version, they could export it in seconds.
I’m a huge fan of software that makes lives easier. This is the point of it.
